PARTNER Newsletter

December 2012

Issue 15

Enrolment Status
As of December 2012 73 sites are open and 873 pairs have been enrolled. Enrolment of new couples has been steady and we have now recruited 64% of the required sample size.

A business card has been designed at a clinic in London and used with great success. The business card is especially designed to target the HIV negative partner in sero-different couples. On the flip side interested participants can write their phone number/email address to be contacted later by a nurse. The card is “easy” for other staff members to hand out to all the relevant visitors in a clinic and it does not require that the staff member has specific knowledge about PARTNER.

Follow up Status
In the PARTNER protocol we asked couples to participate for 2 years. Some of the first couples were enrolled in 2010, and have now been participating in PARTNER for more than 2 years. Therefore we would like all of you to ask those couples if they would please continue in PARTNER. We really appreciate all the years they can contribute to the study. Each site will receive an e-mail with couples that are approaching the 2 year limit.

A year full follow up year for an enrolled couple includes:
1.    Two visits from the HIV positive partner (2 CRF, 2 questionnaires and a minimum of 1 viral load).
2.    Two visits from the HIV negative partner (2 CRF, 2 questionnaires and a minimum of 1 HIV test).
The full follow up years are really important for the study to reach the follow up years we need. Some questionnaires do get lost when participants take  them home to fill them in. Please if possible could you have them fill in the questionnaires at your clinic
.

To qualify for reimbursement we need all these points of actions taken.

Wishing you all a very nice holiday
